Why We Started Expat Gate — and What We’ve Learned from 100 Home Purchases
Three years ago, I realized that many expats in the Netherlands were buying homes by eye — and that shocked me.
People were investing half a million euros, relying on friends’ advice:
“A colleague said it’s nice here.”
“Our friends bought nearby — they say it’s a good area.”
I was horrified. How is this even possible?
But it quickly became clear — people simply had no choice.
No one helped them understand how things actually worked.
No one asked: “Where do you want to be in five years? What’s your point B?”
That’s how pre-purchase research was born at Expat Gate — it became our signature and the foundation for every decision.
I say “we” because today we’re already a whole team.
We believe in being honest, open, and transparent — with clients and within the team.
The reputation of “cunning realtors”? That’s not us.
Strong deals aren’t built on connections — they’re built on a system that works time and time again.
First, research. Then, buy.
Fast and stress-free — because stress comes from uncertainty.
Over these years, we’ve seen everything.
Clients who received the research and said, “We need to save up for our dream home,” — and came back a year later.
Clients who discovered new towns in their report, went there just to feel the place before buying.
But not once did anyone tell us: “Your research turned out to be useless.”
We’re proud of that.
Today, we’ve completed over 100 deals worth more than €50 million —
and helped dozens of people find a place they proudly call home.
A good point indeed.
We’re celebrating — and moving forward.
